Consider your accountant, banker, and attorney your non-owner business partners. Ask them for non-billable advice and counsel. Make them a part of your team. Remember, they all want you to succeed (which brings them additional business).
Lending officers who do not bill by the hour are especially excellent unpaid consultants since they deal with a myriad of clients and see how other business owners attack problems and take advantage of opportunities. In any case make your professional service provider’s job easier by submitting information they need in a timely fashion (such as loan collateral and covenants statements). Your cooperation will not only help you obtain free advice but establish relationships that will benefit your business in the long run.
